Photographer’s Note
Blue dragonfly (libelle) shot on a rock in the historic site of Butrint. It is a quiet, green area with lots of water which seemed to be a good breeding ground for this kind of insects (in several colours).
It was not easy to take a photograph of these insects because they fly almost all the time and when they sit still, they fly away very fast when you approach them.
I had no tripod with me, so took the shot with full zoom, leaning with my shoulders against a wall. After 3 tries, I succeeded to deliver this one.
Adjustment on the background colour (the sun was shining very hard).
I hope you like this.

A fine catch - and I can understand why you got this one on a rock - not an easy task to be shot on the fly - thanks Hendrik for sharing this well composed photo.

I see some diversification of your style and subject matter Hendrik. From great landscapes now to animals and insects? This is another macro in the space of a week or two. I really like it. The background is almost nonexistant, colors very weak, details bleached out by the sun, which makes the subject here stand out a lot more.

...and blue and beautiful,too,Hendrik!
you worked here graphically, the background is ok but it could be fall in an overexpose situation:o)(be careful:)
but I like it very much, the texture of the background is great, also I like the shadow of the fly dragon, excellent detailed and sharpness is great, nicely composed and Thanks for sharing.

Good sharpness and DOF for this beautiful blue dragonfly. It's effectively a challenge to capture them and you've managed to succeed very well. Maybe could you have decreased slightly the brightness level to avoid the overexposed aspect of the background. Very good macro, anyway. Thanks for sharing !
