Angostura Sunset I Photo

Photographer’s Note

The extreme northwest shoreline of Tobago, between Pigeon Point and Booby Point, contains the famous Buccoo Reef, Nylon Bay, Bon Accord Lagoon and Buccoo Bay. This sunset was taken from the western end of Buccoo Bay, looking towards Sheerbird’s Point.

The area is extremely beautiful, ecologically valuable and very popular with visitors. Until about 70 years ago, the entire shoreline was lined by swamp and mangroves, with woodland and forest further inland. However, plantation agriculture has relegated the natural vegetation to a narrow shoreline strip of mangroves, while boat anchors, coral removal, overfishing and land-based pollution have seriously degraded the reef and marine environment.

A subsidiary of Angostura Limited is developing a portion of the former plantation land and, perhaps paradoxically, aiming to improve environmental conditions in the process. Tomorrow, I will show one aspect of that paradox.

Beautiful sunset photo from a beautiful place! You did a great job in framing and composition, well balanced shot. Great job on the exposure, too, maybe a little bit "warmer" White Balance setting, would enhance a bit more the sunset atmosphere! Anyway, a great photo, congratulations and thanks for sharing!

A beautiful photo for a beautiful place , I like the natural frame with the branches of the tree in the top part, precious colors and very nice the stela of light in the water.

Beautiful sunset photo. Like the framing, lightmanagement, colours and reflections; well chosen pov.
Personally I always admire the sunset/sunrise (on my holidays I'm always up early....); the best times of the day for warm, romantic, very effective, surprising, etc., etc. compositions.
