King George Fort
On a hill overlooking Scarborough is the most important historic site of the island: only a few meters away from the hospital, stands the Fort King George on the Rockley Bay. From this fort one can have views far beyond the city and the coast of Tobago. The fort was built in the 17th Century and throughout its history occupied by the French, who renamed it Fort Castries.
Of the once 30 buildings of the fortress are preserved now only a few. Visitors can visit the fort today, the prison blocks, the ammunition, the military hospital and the officers' barracks. Even the National Museum of Tobago, which is housed in an old building, invites you to visit. There are objects from the entire island history shown, from pre-Columbian Indian art of paintings to everyday objects of the first western settlers. On the grounds of the fort, are numerous guns, which have openings towards the Ocean.

A very attractive composition featuring this historical fort. I like the counterpoint offered by the shrub in the right foreground and the lovely shades of green, which seem to positively sparkle.

very interesting place. Razor like sharpness allows to get a better feeling of this place. It seems very wet like a rain forest, and the vegetation seems to take over every available spot.
Very well captured,

J'aime beaucoup l'encadrement fourni par cet arbre aux branches tordues, le vert profond de la végétation et ce bâtiment presque caché par les feuilles.

The trees and the edges are framing well the fort. The point of view is showing the details and colors of the architecture of the fort. The green is the main color and the light has a special effect on it. Have a nice day.

un hommage à ce fort mais aussi à la verdure qui l'entoure.Une photo nette et aux lumières bien équilibrées. Un encadrement astucieux, mais qui ne sera pas du goùt de tout le monde.

What a wonderful look at this lush tropicl green seen in varying shadesl
The old tree above the old fort looks very impressive.
siolaw (38292) 2010-10-28 6:03
The difficult light is well managed with strong green colour tones. The croton tree in the lower right corner adds a pleasant touch of colours.
PS I just saw your last critique on my Phnom Penh palace photo.. I was checking the beta version and the critique appears only there, not in the new TE version!

Trinidad, der Name klingt schon exotisch.
Eine interessante Geschichte der Festung.
Ich sehe, du bist viel unterwegs.

An area certainly rather wet taking into account all this beautiful greenery which surrounds this vestige of the past which must be maintained not to be covered with vegetation. A photograph of beautiful quality in the management of the lights and where I appreciate clearness. Interesting glance and thank you for your instructive note.
With all my friendships and an excellent WE,

Cette photo est étrange avec le vert omniprésent, la maison aux volets clos et cet arbre aux branches torturées. Belle composition !
PaulVDV (31217) 2010-10-30 0:12
I like the composition of this picture very much with the branches of the tree over the roof.
Although the subject of the picture is the fort, I find it a remarkable nature picture too.
The green tones dominate the whole photo, even on the walls and the roof of the building. Beautiful details like the small tropical plants growing on the branches of the tree.
Best regards, Paul

Loved the tones. They are so close to each other. Great spiritual touch of blue, grey, brown and yellow on the vivid green.
