The Red Boat Photo

Photographer’s Note

This red boat was moored on the jetty on the small island of Petit St Vincent. This idyllic island is privately owned and houses a small complex of only 22 luxurious but discreet bungalows, frequented by the wealthy and famous in search of peace and privacy. We were not fortunate enough to be staying on the island itself, though were able to have a tour by a member of staff - nice to see what we were missing out on, and good to know for next time ;-). Only the owners and a small number of permanent staff actually live on the island, and all provisions need to be brought in by boat. This small boat was probably running an errand to the nearby larger island of Petite Martinique.

Nice tropical scene. The water looks so clear an inviting. Makes me wish I was rich. The colours really stand out. Good depth and balance.

Well it's pretty clear you had to stop and take a photo of this, Susanna - the color contrast of the red boat with the incredibly transparent turquoise water was just too striking to not take a photographic advantage of it. The medium-low shooting angle combined with the 18mm gives a good impression of depth and bumps the viewer's eye towards the delightful bay shoreline in the back. Very nice and balanced shot.

Hola Susanna.
A very good perspective with the boat in the foreground and the beach and hills in the back. The turquoise color of the sea enhance the beauty of your shot. Good POV and composition.

Bonjour Susanna,
Le sujet s'imposait et tune pouvais pas faire autrement que de prendre cette photo! Le cadrage est parfait avec cette légère déformation du bateau due au 18mm. On remarque évidemment le rouge claquant qui s'oppose à l'eau verte et transparente, mais le sable lanc, la colline verte et le ciel un peu sombre sont également superbes!

Aaaahhhhhhhhhh revoila le paradis :-)
Tres bon ca, le beau rouge du bateau rend tres bien sur le vert emeraude de l'eau, et il est tres bien positionne dans le cadre, le petit pavillon sur la plage complete bien la vue et le ciel est bien agremente par le nuage, j'aime beaucoup.
T'etais pas a la piscine hier soir ?

Nice feeling of the Caribbean sea here. I want to go on holiday now! The colour, luminousity and clarity of the water are brilliant. The red boat contrasts nicely with this background and the light is great. Next time you visit this island you should buy it!

Salut Susanna, je suis a deux doigts de m'y recoller au WS car encore une fois je pense qu'on peut augmenter ici les contrastes. Mais cette photo est superbe, j'ai lu le commentaire de Norbert et j'ai pas grand chose a rajouter de plus que lui : le POV est bien choisi et met bien en valeur cette plage et ce petit bateau a moteur .... ah la la les tropiques ! ;))

Hi Susanna,
A simple but dramatic and alluring shot. The boat is perfectly angled and placed in the scene, with the rope almost being handed over to the viewer. The tropical water looks warm and inviting and I love the view in the distance of the massive cloud rising almost out of the sea, with the undulating coastline off to the right. A very fine capture, Susanna. Have a good weekend.

les couleurs sont superbes et ton cadrage est tres bon, même si j'aurais bien aimé un peu plus de ce monstrueux nuage.

Bonjour Susanna, cette image à un excellent rendu photogénique et la teinte naturel correspondant à l‘idée que je me fais de cet endroit, ce qu’il il y a de bien avec la photo c’est que l’on est toujours plein de rêves et de projets, souvent trop lointain pour être réalisé, mais grâce au autres membres, comme c’est le cas ici l’on est souvent récompensé par des images qui finalement sont impeccables, et leur réalisation est souvent mieux faite que si l’on aurai prit la photo sois même, bien amicalement

What a fantastic suggestive image of paradise, for this season of holidays. I love the attractive and apparently empty landscape, but also the impact and contrast of this red boat in foreground. The perspective and composition are very well suceeded. Very well done!
