Photographer’s Note

Imagine a sundrenched tropical island all to yourself. The emerald waters lap gently over a sandy shore and the warm white sands glisten beneath your feet. Is this heaven on earth? Or maybe the wind is gusting ferociously, flicking sand into your eyes as you squint in the glare of the sun and run for cover before the sun bakes your skin raw…. Which is reality? Is this paradise or hell???!

This is the tiny island of Morpion though also sometimes referred to by the name of Petit St Richardson, perhaps a more palatable name for French-speaking visitors ;-) In this shot you can already see about half of the island, whose sands are sometimes washed away completely by the surrounding seas. The only signs of human presence are the sunshade, thoughtfully placed for any passing visitors, and some footsteps...

Bonjour Susanna, je passe un bonjour à ma voisine du jour :) Ca existe ce village aux grenadines, Morpion ? lool :)
Superbe image bien exotique, j'aurai presque rajouté un peu de luminosité, mais ce n'est que mon avis of course.

Pffff c'est pas franchement motivant de regarder des vues du paradis quand on doit bosser... C'est chouettement compose, j'aime bien comment les traces de pas tournent autour du parasol, pour le reste je te poste un petit WS.

Hi Susanna, amazing shot, just a little bit too dark. the view over the distant island and over the emerald sea are both excellent, as the focus and the POV.

Nice picture to go for the weekend.
I see you already got the workshops for the slightly darker picture. The composition is whatI like the most here. I can only imagine being in such a great place on Earth.

OK, I added this place to my long "next vacation" list..
Beautiful image, Susan, so tranquil and peaceful. THe shed, the tracks, the island and the beautiful green sea make an excellent composition and a very pleasant photo.

A pleasant framing, Susanna, to arrange the few available elements in a simple and balanced composition. The sand has a good amount of textural detail and the curving footsteps are great to add graphical interest and suggesting some sort of story. The image is overall perhaps a bit dark, but you got two pretty good WS on that matter. Nice one.

Nice choice of the song title, I remember the late-1980s version by Tiffany (almost a one-hit wonder).

Hello susanna, excellent colour quite natural, water the sky the sand without forgetting the parasol what could be better than these elements for filled with enthusiasm one impassioned of photography and of voyages, this image is extremely aesthetic good closed by this arm of the sea which surrounds it, sincerely

Sut mon écran c'est un peu sombre, un peu comme si on avait posé un voile gris sur l'ensemble et j'aime bien le WS proposé par JY. Autrement, la compo est très bonne avec ces traces de pas et le parasol abandonné. Malgré les nuages dans le ciel, on sent tout de même la chaleur en regardant cette image.

Bonjour Susanna,
Well composed and a marvellous POV. Although a little on the dark side, the control of the sun's glare is well managed. The footprints and texture in the sand is most alluring. Well captured.
