Today I’m taking a break from my recent series of local shots. This is a view of Union Island, taken from Frigate Island after a short scramble through the vegetation. The town you can see is Ashton, a sleepy town where little seems to happen. The causeway was originally constructed as part of a marina, but when the plans went over budget the project was stopped, leaving some ugly remains but an otherwise peaceful and undisturbed, shallow bay. I had hoped to climb to the top of the small island but the undergrowth proved thicker than expected and my legs quickly came out in burning blisters. Having read about a tree whose leaves are so poisonous that one can die upon contact… I took a few hurried shots before returning to the shore. Fortunately the blisters subsided with no nasty after effects.

This is a stitch of three shots. Autostitch had some difficulty with this one, and the overlap is not perfect, but I thought I’d post it anyway. Click on the image for a larger view.

a good landscape, even i prefer normal picture, less flat.

Fantastic panorama , really nice , compliments .
Stefano.

Salut Susanna,
Superbe paysage et en grand on admire encore plus, un très bon équilibre dans la composition avec ce choix de pov, belles teintes.

Bonjour Sizanna,
Belle vue, j'aime bien la version large si ce n'est un léger dédoublement de la montagne.
Amicalement
Didier

These shots are always tough. One thing that has worked fine for me in the past is to use a tripod so you have better control of the overlapping points and set your camera to manual. When you use it in auto the camera will compensate the light and will give you variations on the exposure. Hope this is helpful.

Enrique

Hi Susanna - yes the overlap is visible but I'm glad you posted it because the scenery is spectacular, the sharp peaks remind me of photos from Bora Bora, it's nice to see similar landscapes can be seen in the (relatively more) affordable Carribbean.

It's very good to have posted this large pano, because it helps us to go through this strange winter.
What a beautiful place.
The composition is very nice
Cheers
Pierre-André
