Photographer's Note

The Panama Canal consists of three sets of locks and two lakes. The larger lake is Lake Gatún, and a major portion of it is the channel of the Chagres River. This view is from the eastern end of Lake Gatún, just west of the Pedro Miguel Locks, and where the channel of the river begins the route to the main body of the lake.
