Photographer’s Note
Nicaragua tried to bring health to the population.
But it was a bit hard for people to come to the "health center" because of the distances, and of the precense of the "contras".
So many "internacinalistas" were helping the country, victim of a blocus.
in the field of education,health,agriculture...
so we had to go and visit those "aldeas"(very small villages) and bring theim some medecines after a few hours walking.
The USA were affraid of revolutionnary contamination.
This Sandinist revolution was a big problem, because others countries of central america could take it as an example, and in fact, there were guerillas in Salvador, and Guatemala.
"contras" were groups of armed people who had in charge to fight the revolution by any way.terror, destruction of fields,schools..it was an "army" financed by Reagan.
But things were not so simple.
by the way you can see that people were living in very "closed" house for their safety.
