Photographer's Note

These brilliantly painted buildings are typical of this beautiful colonial city on the shores of Lake Nicaragua. The quaint, cobbled streets are filled mostly with pedestrian traffic and as many horses and carts as cars. Punctuating the sky are the spires of glorious centuries-old churches or the more distant volcanic peaks of the region, and always there are the cooling breezes that waft in from the lake. It all combines to create an idyllic place.
