A great phot showing that in the midst of poverty what really matters are the little things such as the children's art work, to mom, and family (this exemplified by the photos).
I really like the texture of the wall. The child on the bottom looks so sad and has a look of desolation. A very sAD but special photo.

Very good shot Mark. Perfect compo and very interesting position of this kid's face. I love seeing the little drawings just behind him. Did you ask for posing or it just happened like that ?

That's crazy how few points this has! It's a very interesting and intense photo. I love how it's half graphical (found art on the wall) and half very human. the art suits the feeling here perfectly.

Remarkable shot, Mark. I'm with Madame Pup on this one - you would think folks would queue up for this...Look, simply put I find it intensely moving right down to the childish "cave drawing" next to the kid. I am selecting this as a favorite, there.

Hi Mark, I saw this one come by a couple of days ago, and wanted to make a comment on it as it is such a special one, but I sometimes forget which one I want to comment and I lack time. But I always take a look at your pictures.
It's easy to make up a story full of memories, based on your picture, especially because of the kid with an expression like that. It makes a sad impression on me.

I read your thread about going pro, I'm sure you will be able to make it, you have the eye and the talent. I wish you good luck!

Mark, I am sure Britney Spears sold more album than most, does it make her music better?
Sometime ago I decided that for me not getting much attention on many photos could be a good thing, it means that as a photographer I don't take pictures to please the crowd, I do it to express my own ideas and feelings, and as Francis mentioned I don't exacly pay attention to how many comments I get (not a big fan of one line copy and paste type, or a critique I get back in exchange for mine), but take a note who writes them and what they say.

I am sure you exactly know what you goals are. Is your goal to take a perfect photograph that is easy for the audience to read, scalpel the composition just from the photgraphy point of view, such images do would receive alot of attention and that's cool, or is your goal tell the story through your images, show the hardship even if it means the image isn't all so perfect?

Yes, I also saw this image couple of days ago, why I din't write anything? well I have to be in the mood, the image isn't as easy as some others, I can't just stop here and say wow great compo and colours....this image is like a book, you read a bit, come back for more a bit later, and then continue on, you get hooked as the story continues, ...looks like the book isn't finished yet, lot's of room on the wall, I am afraid the follow up to the first part won't be any happier....

pit a MASTER photographer or a magnum (VU or any other agency) member against the TE biggies and most likely the TE biggie will come out with more points :)

i personally find it harder to write anything for powerful stuff because i feel stupid writing anything for it.. one such member is kevin (kevryan) his photographs may not have the best quality, they may not have really striking composition , but his photographs from india have very strong subject matter which is why i'm hardly able to write to them..

even in this case, this is a bloody powerful photograph mark and by far one of the strongest in your collection.. which is why if you notice, i'm not really writing something directly connected to it :)
there is a high possibility that people are kind of 'speechless' with this photostory.. or atleast you SHOULD think that it is the case..

p.s. steven spielberg is more popular than quentin tarantino...... not that spielberg is not good. i like him a lot, BUT!!!!!!!!!!!1

I think your one of the best photographers Ive seen on Trek Earth! You know most of the time I wonder how most of the pics even get the kind of points that they do...but your work is truely worth each and every point it deserves. Well done! Id pay money to see work like yours.
