This is a celebration for the patron saint of Ciudad Dario, San Pedro. Although gruesome, this event was one of my favorite things during my stay. They took a live chicken and tied its feet to a rope strung across the street. The rest is self explanitory...
Since everything was happening so quickly, I feel lucky to have captured this moment. I hope I dont offend anybody by placing this picture on TE.

Yes it is a little gruesome, but it is important that you show it. If this is what happens in Nicaragua on San Pedro's day there is nothing wrong with it. There is some sense and tradition behind it, although you have not explaned it here, I would be interested to know more. Also you stated that it is a chickhen, but it has webbed feet, is it perhaps a duck? Anyway the picture is a good one. Very difficult to freeze action happening so fast. It would have been an extra if you got a little more of the horse in the shot, as I didn't rtealise the guy was riding a horse straight away. I guess you where also far away from the action and at the long end of your zoom.
SO well done, you have produced a good picture, and not offended anyone, at least not me. : )
