What time is it?
That was my reply. My Friends Keete and Breda woke me up. We were off to Albatross Bank for the day, long lining. I asked Breda, as he held on to the boat, if he wanted some water. We had a generator and a desalination unit. His answer was 'no, I don't drink before I go to sea'.
A long day it was. And a long way it was from land where we went to fish.
It wasn't a day out fishing for the wealth that fish can provide the pocket. There is always a cost versus benefit factor when fishing long distances away from islands, and even more so when fishing even longer distances away from the mainland. Gasoline versus fish is the equation.
Yet plenty of fish were caught, the largest a bonito of about 4lbs / 2kg. A Quality fish. And several Queen Triggerfish a few lbs each. Not exactly the 'money' fish but a beautiful fish which looks like an angry butterfly... a dem call dem 'skin chicken' depon de cays... Skinned and fried in coconut oil in a dutch pot they tasted like the best fried chicken ever.
It's not often fish tastes like fried chicken.

Hi there! Great note. looks like a fantastic scene. But the contrast is a little too much for me. Is it a scan? Otherwise the clarity looks quite good! A bit on the soft side, but that could just be the camera Will have a better look tomorrow... it's a bnit late. :)

Yes, i'd tend to agree with Leilani about the contrast.
But anyway, i love the composition here, and also the heavy grain, that gives a really special mood to the picture.
