Photographer’s Note
At this time of year, the very pretty coral-colored flowers of Antigonon leptopus are a common sight in Jamaica wherever the natural vegetation has been disturbed. This weedy vine (an alien invader native to Mexico) drapes itself over roadside vegetation, hedges, walls and fences. Later in the year, the fruit and dry tendrils turn a less attractive rust color. Right now they offer some nice eye candy and the delicately scented flowers are heaven for bees -- some compensation for the invasion. In Workshop I show both the context and a closeup more suited to TrekNature.
