[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is Mokko next to his cooking place on his yard in Sunninghill.
You can stay in Mokko's place in the cabins he has build there and painted in the Rastafari colours. He cooks for you on wood (Ital cooking) and smokes an awful lot of ganja. He is 56 misses the most of his teeth (like a lot of Jamaicans)but has a body of a twenty year old sportsman. He has a cellphone, but when you try to make a reservation he says: "Jah, man, OK man". When you ask him if he wants to know your name he says: No man, that's OK man".
His wife, son and twin daughters are also around and make the experience complete.

For some reasons it reminds me the bobsley team (???) from Jamaica - saying:
"We no wanna go to no Japan... (Winter olympics in Sapporo)
We wanna go to Jamai-ka ! "...

Tha hat, the strong body, the smile, no teeth...
He must be Jamai-ka a'man or somethn;...
(:-)))

Lovely 'close encounter with the other world' Gerrit...
As natural as natural can be...

Stay cool, a'man

george

Hi Gerrit,
Fantastic picture.I almost listen this men saying: "that's OK man," singing the words.
Very well done.

Bonjour Gerrit,
personnage typique, on entend en arrière fond musical, le reggae. La photo montre dans le détail, les conditions de vie pas trop luxueuses de ces populations qui vivent dans des iles que nous qualifions 'de rêve'.
Regards.
Daniel.

I really enjoyed this note :) A very nice picture, a man with a very contented and happy expression. Interesting as well. TFS and I hope we'll see more pictures of his family.

Hi Gerrit,
Colorful guy and nice photo, the overall domiannt being bit dark, the rasta colors shine even better.
have a nice week end JY

Bonjour, cher Gerrit,
J'ai beaucoup aimé la présentation de cet homme ! ;o)
Une très bonne photographie prise dans son élément.
Proverbe jamaïcain

Amitiés.

Well done..
All the best.

Very good daily life shot. He sounds like quite a character. The Rasta colours catch the eye very well. Interesting to see the "Shower block" also painted in Rasta colours. You should mention the WS in your note as I almost missed it. :D

Hi Gerrit,
Your story is very interesting and I like the subtle humor portraying the laid back character of the man. You've captured the character of this man in this photo ... his body language and laugh is spot on. Excellent work! tfs and have a nice weekend.
Cheers,
Renier

Hi Gerrit,

very nice portrait. The flash was essential for the details. He looks very confortable and that's a good point. Interesting note as well. Great job!

Hi Gerrit,
That's the image I had of the common Jamaican when I was a Bob Marley fan many moons ago. :D Always cool, with a 'ganga smile' on the face, "don't worry, be happy". But he looks quite healthy and athletic for a 56 years man. Very good light and sharpness considering the circumstances that look quite challenging.
TFS, Regards, José.

Hi Gerrit,

Mokko seems very proud to be taken in photograph in his humble kitchen. He has a “cool” smile and a nice red bonnet. Thank you for the photo bonus where one can appreciate his space of life very coloured too.

With all my friendships and a very good WE,

Jean-Charles

Interesting portrait, but man that red hat looks so artificial, as if superimposed on the photo, great note though.

Hallo, Gerrit.

Hello Gerrit,
Nice to meet Mokko with a very fine portrait of him!
he sure looks young indeed for a happy life he is leading!
a simple life is the best living!
many thanks for this sharing
greeting from NZ

Hi Gerrit! An excellent portrait? The word Mokko in the GR language meant silence. Your subject, as reportage means many in the spectator messages, has good and important imprinting and good and important chromatic balance, Well done nice note
Georgios

those jamaican colours on him are sooo striking, making his smile even shine brighter gerrit... very nice indeed...

Hi Gerrit

A good daily life scene & excellent use of the fill in flash. Good sharpness & dof. Tfs!

Hello Gerrit,
What a cool typical Jamaican chracter you have here, well framed with his humble house around.
I like his relaxed pose looking at you also and the way yo got light where it seems to be quite dark.
The only thing that disturbs me a bit is the way his hat seems to be pushed over, but that doesn't ruin the rest of the photo.
Cheers.
Paulo

salut gerrit
un beau portrait d'un personnage qui si tu le rencontres dans le noiret dans une foret c'est un peu hard, belle netteté

Hi Gerrit,
He has to be a very interesting man and many things can be learned. The Rastafarian colours have an interesting force and the presence of the man is round. Excellent photography and great note ;-)
