Photographer’s Note

Four scoolgirls trying to reach the other side of the road. Traffic is not as bad and reckless in Jamaica compared with other couyuntries in the region that I've visited but congestion is the standard in every towncentre. like her in May Pen, 50 km west of Kingston.
Schooluniforms are a major topivc in daily streetlife, although uniformity in colour is not entirely reached here. The are taking care for each other though.

They look quite worried, but i dont know if there is that much traffic in that place! Nice natural poses, sunny colors and sharp details

A very nice capture of daily life. I like the school uniforms, and wish we had them here. It would put an end to at least abit of the peer pressure. TFS

A very nice colourful composition of these four young ladies trying to cross the road. I like also like the inclusion of the young man left of frame who seems very interested in the camera or, perhaps, one or more of the girls ;-) Very good clarity. A good slice of daily life.

Hi Gerrit.
As an ex teacher I was quick to see the lack of uniformity in the colour of the tunics! I like the candid nature of this shot, and the colourful background. It would have been easy to over-expose in the sun. The squarish format works well, and the activities in the background add interest. I love that sign, 'Sale! Sale!, which says so much so urgently. All in all, a captivating daily life shot.

As it seems people there enjoy a ver colorful environment, and this shows on the photos as well, especially when the light pushes the contrasts and gives punch to the colors, nice street scene.

That's a beautifull share from Jamaica.
The kids are to cross a traffic... and it's lovely to watch the school uniforms.. Here, in our place, the same style of uniforms are there in schools..

Very interesting this picture showing a little of daily life of this people.Here, in Brazil most schools use pantas as uniform . We almost never see girls dressing skirt. I like this uniform.

Hi Gerrit - nice shot with the "Caribbean" strong colors, strong light and daily life. The red/yellow behind is good to complement the brown uniforms (it has been noted that there are indeed different brown tones in the uniforms). Cheers ;) Daniel

nice daily life scene showing the courtesy of helping out each other and friendship. The colors are very strong and typical for my knowledge of Jamaica. They are so strong that it pushes the contrast a lot. Strong impression!
