[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This image was took in the formerly Mosquiot Coast, today Gracias a Dios Departement, the large eastern area of Honduras, covered by the forest, rather remote and inaccessible by land, though local airlines nd missions fly to the main cities or by boat along the rivers.

This image was took from the boat during the 3 days travel to Puerto Lempira, somewhere in the forest along a snakeshape large river (i don't remember the name), then along the Caribean Coast and finally inside a large lagoon where is located Puerto Lempira.

What there's in Puerto Lempire?
Absolutely nothing.
What to do?
Nothing to do.
Someting to watch or visit?
Nothing.

So...why Puerto Lempira, 3 days totally of travel sleeping on the desk of a long boat, covered by mosquitos all the days, eating terrifiant flat fish and completely wet all the day, with 38-40° and the 99% of humidity...why?

I don't know.
I remember only that we met a guy in a posada, drinking a cerveza in the small city of Catacamas that told us that he was preparing a travel to go to his parents in Puerto Lempira, by boat. Totally 200 kilometers on a river and along the coast.

It was something of "different".
Alone, us 4, with a couple of guys, both Garifuna (an ethnic group of mixed ancestry, Amerindian and Carib people), on 2 long boats.
Running 15-18 hours per day on this wonderful green and blue world, the sound of the monkeys, the sound of the forest on the night, that damned mosquitos all the day, and 4 or 5 "villages" along the coasts.
Huts, just huts, as thousands of years ago.
Completely isolated from the rest of the world, without streets, telephone, television, cars, nothing.

It was the also my last picture of that days, then i found just Reversal film/Slides in Puerto Lempira, where there was really nothing to do...We rest there less than 48 hours, then with a small plane of a Mission we back in Ahus, a tiny village of the Mosquito Coast and from there with another plane we back in La Ceiba.

After that 5 days on a long boat in the middle of the nothing, after the air travels on old airplanes i thinked "Gracias a Dios", that is the modern name of that departement of Houndurs, but that in Spanish means "Thanks to God"...

Fantastico! Immagino la situazione, avendo già vissuto situazioni simili... Ogni volta sono combattuto tra il gusto dell'avventura e la paura dell'esasperazione che ti prende in quelle circostanze... Ho già detto bastaaaa mille volte eppure ci ricasco sempre :)
Nella tua foto c'è tutto il fascino e la disperazione di una landa desolata.

Ciao Paolo!! Che storia ci racconti! Giorni e giorni nel nulla. Ti capisco: a volthe capita di mettersi in testa che un posto vada assolutamente visitato, che sia un posto da scoprire, un posto speciale non ancora avvicinato dal turismo. E invece... i posti molto turistici sono guarda caso i posti più belli!

La foto mi piace: le capanne e il cielo: frende l'idea di quello che ci racconti, è ben composta e di buona qualità la scansione.

Buon Giorno Paolo,
It is a unique and beautiful photo with the huts highlighted against the beautiful sky. It can't have been easy to find a place wherwe the huts were clear of the jungle. The jungle river shots I tried were quite dark and gloomy - then again, I didn't stick to it as long as you did.

Not all adventures turn out to be fun and so some people quit travelling, although it seems that you're not in that group.
