| In Guanaja, such water taxis are the primary source of trasnportation if one does not have a boat of their own. Almost every location on this island is reached by boat, for there are many houses that are free-standing on stilts in the water, and because the capital city, Bonaca, is located on a cay. These water taxis also double as a type of "school bus," bringing many children from the main island to Bonaca Cay each morning. |
