Photographer's Note

In Guanaja, boating is a way of life. Everywhere you go, you go by boat. Most people of Guanaja live on small cays off the main island, or in houses that sit alone in the water on stilts. The sand flies were so much of a problem on the main island that it is now largely uninhabited...most people moved out over the water. As a result, the boat has become the primary means of transport. Here we see one that has ended its career, and gets to rest under the palms.
