Noname Village in the North-East of Haiti

Haiti remains one of the least-developed countries in the Western Hemisphere. Comparative social and economic indicators show Haiti falling behind other low-income developing countries (particularly in the hemisphere) since the 1980s. Haiti now ranks 154th of 177 countries in the UN’s Human Development Index (2006). (from Wikipedia)

Des tôles, des bouts de bois, de la terre battue.. C'est ainsi que vivent des millions de personnes dans le monde... Dans le dénuement le plus total mais toujours avec le sourire... Et nous, nous faisons la gueule !

Bonjour, mon ami Achim,
Philippe

Hi Achim

The third world poverty is coming through loud & clear in this superb daily life scene from Haiti. Wonderful colours, & well managed harsh subtropical lighting. Tfs!

Bonjour Achim,

Photo très expressive sur les conditions de vie des haitiens qui font partie des populations les plus pauvres du monde.

Bonne Journée

Achim,
Poverty is the same in all over the world. Amazing how the people can live there.

Excellent shot.

Paulo

Achim,
last February I was at the Hispaniola Island, more precisely in the Dominican Republic and I could feel that there are a lot of ressentiments against Haiti. I heard quite often that DR is so much more pretty than Haiti and part of it is due to the systematic destruction of the nature - no trees. Additionally to that a huge poverty. Your image senthesizes this statement quite well. It is shocking and sad.
Regards, Peter

Hello Achim. A very good shot taken in bright light, of this poor and dusty village. I like both the view down the dirt road to the gathering group of people, and the view over the roofs of their very ramshackle homes. The scene is one of poverty, yet it seems clean and neat, a dignified place to live. Well taken.
Regards,
Andrew

A sad but wonderful picture. I sponsor a little girl in Haiti and hope to go there one day soon. Your pov has really captured this village and the poverty there. Good color and detail. TFS I am adding this to my favorites.

Hallo Achim,
staubig, notdürftige Hütten, kein Ort wie ich leben möchte. Guter Blickpunkt über dieses traurige Bild.
Lieben Gruss, Ulf

excellent pov and sharp also colors.

Sad place but with some interesting signs of life, I much like the nature around the small village and I more like the presence of human activity and the start of a new house, that on the left side, at least I understand this, good reporter image Achim, compliments.
Ciao

Hi Achim,
An interesting view of a little visited country, although i see a group of tourists on the left side(and rightly so, as it is quite dangerous nowadays!) Sharpness is first class and colors are looking natural. Harsh light is erfectly controlled

Excellent composition and very real colours too. Very well done. TFS.

Have a nice day,
John.

Hi Achim,

A good POV of the village(bidonville), the photo has a good composition, DOF and nice colors. Thanks for sharing.

Pierre

Hi, Achim. Looking at your photo shows evidence of what your comment tells us about Haiti. All the houses here are slums. I guess that in spite of that most people don't complai as mch as we do! Your picture is very well composed with a good POV on the roofs and good contrast between fore- and background.
