Photographer’s Note
Photo taken from the bus (in slow movement), leaving Haiti and going to Santo Domingo : the traffic going the other way was intense and I think that this photo has a documentary value, showing the kind of essential goods that are imported in Haiti...
Re-entering into the Dominican Republic was terribly long and very controlled ; one day earlier, a luggage containing cocaine had been found inside the bus and the custom officers were over zealous that day.

Hello Catherine,
I don't know why no one has not written anything but I think this one deserves a credit. Maybe it is not the greatest photo but it shows the moment very well. And to me photography is about "the moment". Well done.

Hi Catherine.
Good idea but not succesful. First, the exposure. And that's something that you could change in a postprocessing. Also is not the right moment because no one is expressing something to the camara. But, of course, that's something difficult and they werem't posing to the camara.
Anyway, thanks for sharing.

I like it...It does convey a unique sense of daily life. In many countries, people daily cross back and forth across international borders for work, trade, etc. Sometimes, Americans and Europeans especially, where borders barely mean anything and you can travel for hundreds or thousands of miles without crossing a real border, forget this.
I spent 6 months in Haiti about 10 years ago, and the tap tap buses in the photo bring back some fun and strange memories. Quite a vibrant culture, but unfortunately, a basket case as far as the government's ability to take care of and provide opportunity for its people.
I agree somewhat with coco in that some minor post-processing on levels and contrast would have helped it. Still, quite a nice job.

Hi Catherine
Technical isn`t this the best image, but I like the mood of crowdy street and perspective. Good light too.
Welcome to TE ;).

Hi Catherine,
I lived in the Dominican Rep for 28 years, and I remember the controversy back then about the Haitian pacific invasion, that is how they use to call it back then. I visited Haiti only a couple of times, and the situation that I saw gave the impression of being in Africa more than being in the Caribbean.
Yes, this image has a very strong documentary quality. Hope to see more photos from that trip.
Cheers,
Enrique
