A tap tap on Gonaïves beach. They are painted buses or pick-up trucks that serve as share taxis in Haiti. They may also be referred to a camionette. Literally meaning "quick quick", these vehicles for hire are privately owned and ornately decorated. They follow fixed routes, won't leave until filled with passengers, and their passengers can disembark at any point in the journey. Often painted with religious names or slogans, the tap tap is known for its lavish decoration, and many feature wild colors, portraits of famous people, and intricate, hand-cut wooden window covers. intriguing the name viola (guitar in Portuguese, there was a soccer player with this name too). nice details of these adornments in the truck, nice framing catching well the elements.

The driver must be a very creative painter, Miguel, and he added much charm to his "Viola" truck.
Once, some 30+ years ago I saw a Boing 707 painted like this - I think it was from Equador. Nicely spotted, well scanned.

Painting on buses and trucks is an art of a special type. They are always colorful, beautiful and sometimes with queer spellings.
A unique subject nicely presented. Very compact and very colorful.

I know this will sound very strange, but this vehicle looks to me like a cross between a truck, a parrot and a zebra! Amazingly colourful mode of transport, it looks like it could be part of a festival! Great capture and a very interesting note too.
