[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is a very small school, 2 classes in the same place - one in the morning and the other the afternoon, in the harbour town of Miragoane : a local NGO (FOMAED, Fondation Miragoanaise d'Aide aux Enfants Défavorisés) for street children, abandoned babies and pregnant girls is organising various programmes, not only classes but also shelters, and teaching certain essential jobs such as car repair to youngsters.

Even these children having such precarious lives are wearing the uniform except the ones who have been admitted only recently : the most modest schools have their own uniform in Haiti.

I met the team of some 10 local persons, who seemed to have really a passion for what they were doing ; they also had an excellent sense of humour...

Hi Catherine,
This is a very nice documentary shot. Although they all posed for you, it is really interesting (and natural) that nobody smiled for the picture. Excellent capture of the moment.

Excellent daily life shot here. None of the children look particularly happy in this photo, but maybe as Sayat says it is because you managed to shoot such a natural moment. Before reading your note, my first thought was how interesting it was that even amidst abject poverty, the school still required a uniform, so thank you for commenting on that! I really like this shot- technically it is very good as well.

Hi Cath,

I like the way you catched their attentio. Note is extremely interesting, as usual for you.
