Photographer's Note

Every morning before starting school, Haitian students use to sing the national anthem and raise the flag.
Croix des bouquets is a suburb in the Port-Au-Prince metropolitan area located in the west department.
Wyclef Jean a Haitian-American rapper, singer and member of the trio the Fugees, was born in Croix-des-Bouquets, where he lived until he was nine years old.

Excellent sharpness with good graphism & nice contrasted lighting although the highlights are a little oe. Good depiction of the Haitian flag and these charming school children. The tight framing works well here. Tfs!

Apparently the area was spared by the earthquake and it became a refuge for homeless people... An interesting slice of daily life, with patriotism involved!

One has to wonder, with old photos of Haiti before the earthquake, how much of what you see remains standing today. This is a nice shot in somewhat happier times, with strong color and a nice repetition of the flag. Thanks!
