[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
People in some countries have standard ways of posing in front of the camera, and in Haiti it was standard to look cool. These sweet guys whom we met in Cap Haitien were determined to pose like they were a bunch of mean m.fs, and I think they did it well.

Hello Nana,
This a really good one, sharing the same style as many Magnum photographs. The B&W choice is perfect. Posed or not, the faces are expressive. Regards,
Hakan

Dear Nana,

Some real bad *ss m*th*fs....
Good POV and i like the contrast.

i don't know whats better to pose. Here in Angola, as soon as you pick up a camera everybody jumps up to put on their best clothes......

Hello Nana, When I visited Haiti I was so coward that I did not take a single photo, something a regret a lot because the situation of Port au Prince was quite interesting and rather hard to discover. I recognize what I saw there in this photo, in fact there is this "cool" actitude among many young people. I love your POV here, showing us also what is around this men, because I think it also add some information. Beside the b&W gives a photojournalistic touch that works very well here, and for me, after visit the country, I found it more interesting, becuase I think and I wish that Haïti will recover the colors some day in the near future. Take care.

Yo Nana!

Great street scene here and interesting note! I like the pose of all of the men and think the composition to include all the different characters works well.

Nice one!

This is great Nana, all they need is a couple of AK-47's and maybe a recoilless rifle mounted in the back of the ubiquitous Toyota pickup and they could be straight from Mogadishu!
I'm glad you mentioned in your note that their real attitude was at complete odds with the image they're projecting here, very interesting.
A strong and well taken piece of reportage, well done.

Cheers,
Ben

People of African culture influence - it doesn't depend where they live, they have hip hop in their blood. Good portrait, also you're brave to take a shot of people like these.

Hi Nana. I'm glad your note tells the story, otherwise I was afraid you had been mugged seconds after the shoot. Really funny that they want to pose in that way, but it gives not only them but also the photo a special look. I like the mood, and it's well underlines in the B & W. Good work. Greetings Jens :-)

lol They did it very well and it made for a great picture!!

Great black and white. there seems to be a harsh light but well managed i think. I like the contrast. These four looks are just priceless.

Hi Nana.
I am really touched by the way these people pose. actually perhaps they do not pose, it is their regular moment.Leaving it black and white is the right option, because it seems as if there was too much sunlight or it was bright

This shot is so interesting. I love the black and white. It really shows us a bit of Haiti. Thanks for sharing it with us.
