[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Lake Atitlan, Guatemala... a volcanic lake in the mountains lined with a few little villages accessible by boat. This photo was taken from the shoreline of San Marcos - a car-less, sleepy little village which has over the recent years been segregated and defined as a town with two neighborhoods: one being the indigenous locals who inhabit the higher part of the town, and the other being a commune of "spiritual" ex-pats who have colonized the waterfront... building "sustainable" tourist structures to exploit the majestic scenery and healing energy of the lake. (scanned slide, no alterations) (Does anyone know how I can upload with better COLOR quality? Using Iphoto to export, my photos look gray when posted on trekearth. Thanks)

Hi Michael,

I was in the same place a few years back and took almost the same photograph surprised already then by the strange gringo "spiritual" folks that were there...

I must admit that I prefered the higher, guatemalan village, rather than the colonised waterfront!

All the best,

Mathieu
