Photographer's Note

Riding from Huehuetenango to the Carribean coast of Guatemala (on bike) you're riding through a clompletely different landscape every day. From Huehue untill the pass leading to Nebaj the Chuchumatanes look like the atlas mountains in Marocco, hot and dry. When you have passed that point the vegetation gets more lush and you're riding through a agricutural area around Cunen and Uspantan. There the landscape gets wild with huge rocks and forests and when you climb into the Alto Verapaz you see the everlasting clouds ood the cloudforest around Cobán. From Coban to the turnoff to Lanquin is the only stretch you can encounter some rain in februari. There is this picture taken.
From there you will ride into the lush vegetation of the tropics with bananaplants and green hills. Down in the valley you'll encounter a sort of Savannah-landscape leading to the Carribean coast.
