Photographer’s Note
These guys are coatimundis, seen in the rain forest surrounding the ruins of Tikal.
A raccoon relative, Coati are native to South American and southern North American tropical rainforests, grasslands, and bushy regions. They live up to 14 years in "bands" (small social groups.) Excellent tree climbers, Coatimundis often eat while hanging upside down. Their keen nose helps them locate food: small prey, fruit and nuts.
Scanned from the slide.
