Photographer’s Note
Day 61: Tikal, Guatemala
Tikal is the biggest of ancient Mayan cities. The whole area is work in progress and there are loads of buildings and other artifacts that are still covered with dirt and vegetation. Place is still extremely interesting and being in the rainforest means you are likely to see different kind of animals as well. This is Temple I and due to the use of wide-angle lens and angle it doesn’t look as tall as in the real life. Those stairs are extremely steep!
I was supposed to continue to Belize the very next day but in the same time Hurricane Dean hit the country (category 5) and most of the tourists were evacuated – I wasn’t allowed to enter either. In the same time I got really sick and later found out it was none other than typhoid fever. Not the nicest traveling companion but it didn’t stop me from traveling and I got rid of it after 1.5 weeks (I’ve never been so sick in my life, though!)

Dia 61: Tikal, Guatemala

Marko,
Excellent photo! The lighting and colors are great here with outstanding sharpness and DOF. The polarizer did a great job here bringing out great color and detail. Your composition is fine with the tree in the foreground and the brightly lit ruins in the back.
TFS,
Asa

Hello Marko,
This is one of the better shots I've seen of Tikal on this site. I like your choice to shoot from under the shade, really emphasizing the bright sunlight on the structures. The deep blue sky, and green jungle really stand out.
Regards,
David

Terve Marko,
Scenery in a sunny place seen from shade is really beautiful. Saturation of green and blue is very comfortable for me, also white clouds floating in the sky.
Finely finished work.
Have a nice day, Hisashi

Hi Marko
Great capture and a good color. The ancient city of Mayan civilization and the note really made it very appealing.
Good composition.
