St. George's is the capital of Grenada. The city is surrounded by a hillside of an old volcano crater and is on a horseshoe-shaped harbor.
The city is a popular Caribbean tourist destination that attracts thousands of tourists, cruise ships, and celebrities. The city has significantly developed in recent years, while preserving its history, culture, and natural beauty. The city is home of St. George’s University School of Medicine. The main exports are cocoa bean cacao, nutmeg, and mace spice.
It has a moderate tropical climate that ensures the success of spice production. Nutmegs are the most plentiful crop, followed by an array of such spices as cocoa, mace, cloves, vanilla, cinnamon and ginger.
The original picture was taken on slide film many years ago. Storage conditions in the meantime have not been of the best. It has been digitised and cleaned up as far as possible using Photoshop, but technical quality remains poor. Apologies for this, but I still believe it is worth posting if only for the novelty value.

another interesting view of coast from St. George. Nice remembrance you've. Amazing summer green and small houses. Photo need a bit more contrast.
Have a nice day.

namaste, another nice view. Composition is superb. Nice light and colours. Those boats are looking superb with the backdrop of mountains. Tfs.

What a beautiful sky! Thanks for your message. I am now relaxed about the technical quality of these scanned slides. A very interesting composition here showing us much fine detail about this location. The styles of the housing scattered on the hillside look no different to what I would expect in see in coastal towns of Terrigal or Avoca or Kilcare NSW Australia around the same time as this image was taken. A little bit more tropical here perhaps.

Could not agree more to your note. Photos as old as these are so valuable, this one was taken when I was 5 years old! Wow, it has antique value. I think this place has changed a lot in recent times, but your capture shows how peaceful it was back then. I am particularly curious about the capsizing boat to the right, what happened to it? Thanks for sharing.

What we have to appreciate is the fine composition, the interesting details and the sharp focus. The colours, we have to imagine as they were, for they are less important than the other aspects.
There was a marvellous programme about the West Indies, (maybe it was a Time Team programme) where they were excavating near the beaches. Seemingly whole ships' crews had succumbed to tropical diseases and been buried in graves near the beaches. The programme does sound gruesome but, in reality, it wasn't it had very interesting spin offs.
have a great day,

Je crois qu'un petit peu de travail sur photoshop aurait été utile pour rendre cette photo plus vibrante de couleurs. Ici on perçoit un petit film dans l'air.

a shot that captures the lushness and beauty of this harbour so perfectly. Looks so inviting and I love the semi submerged wreck on the right. It adds that little something extra to the scene. Excellent transfer.

Good frame and colors.
Overturned ship makes an impression.

I like very much this wide view with the sea and the boats in the foreground, the beautiful green hills with discreet and lovely houses in the background. There's an effective arrangement in the frame, the view is deep and its details very accurate and interesting. I like the nostalgic feel of the colours, the strong light and the warm and calm atmosphere. A very charming place. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great week,
