St. George's is the capital of Grenada. The city is surrounded by a hillside of an old volcano crater and is on a horseshoe-shaped harbor.
The city is a popular Caribbean tourist destination that attracts thousands of tourists, cruise ships, and celebrities. The city has significantly developed in recent years, while preserving its history, culture, and natural beauty. The city is home of St. George’s University School of Medicine. The main exports are cocoa bean cacao, nutmeg, and mace spice.
It has a moderate tropical climate that ensures the success of spice production. Nutmegs are the most plentiful crop, followed by an array of such spices as cocoa, mace, cloves, vanilla, cinnamon and ginger.
The original picture was taken on slide film many years ago. Storage conditions in the meantime have not been of the best. It has been digitised and cleaned up as far as possible using Photoshop, but technical quality remains poor. Apologies for this, but I still believe it is worth posting if only for the novelty value.

Bonjour Stephen ,
Je ne sais pas si la ville a beaucoup changé depuis 30 ans , mais son architecture coloniale est remarquable . Très belles couleurs et un aspect un peu granuleux qui ajoute du charme au cliché .

Many beautiful and interesting details of that place! Colonial buildings are always great examples of attractive architecture!
Another pleasant-looking picture specially taking into account it is an old slide! Colors, exposure, chosn pov and composition pleased me!

Nice view from the harbor. I like the way the town is taking the shape of the hill. The different colours on the sea are splendid. The speed boat adds some dynamism to this idyllic composition of a peaceful place. Thanks for sharing a fine photo.

very pretty panorama taken from opposite shore. The colors are very lovely and reminds me of some impressionist painting. The boats in the port compliment the village on the hill very well.
Thanks for sharing and have a nice day

Your photo is nicely.
I like frame and warm colors.
Good archive work.

It is hard to believe that this is a conversion for the colours are so vibrant.
You have composed the shot well, the mainland making an interesting, detailed, sandwich filling, between the blue of the sea and the sky.
My warm regards,

Great to read your note and hear this city has protected its history and heritage, so many places fail to do that! This is a brilliant documentary shot of this city of a particular time, I would love to see a comparative shot of how this exact frame looks today. It looks like a very beautiful place, and looks really exotic. The red roofs are particularly appealing.

I like very much this view of the waterfront and the green hill. The architecture is elegant and this place looks peaceful and pleasant. There are interesting details to occupy the viewer's attention, daily life must have been delightful there in the year of your capture. The colours have a lovely, nostalgic quality. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a lovely evening,

L'étendue de la mer donne de la profondeur à la scène. La prise de vue permet de voir les détails et les couleurs des maisons de St.George. La lumière a un bel effet sur les couleurs de l'image. Je trouve que la numérisation est réussie. Bonne journée.

This scene in the St. George in Granada is super with its boats at the port, if it can be called that it looks like they are berthed at a road.
Love the speed boat to give it life. Super colours the light is fantastic.
Bad wind 80mph rain and more to come great, hope you guys are having better weather.
macjake (67534) 2014-02-06 13:07
there are some pretty cool looking boats there, pretty rustic, pretty damaged - those are the best :)
reading the note, this place sounds wonderful for a place of R&R ( and some photos too )
good view overall, it'd be cool to see the same pov today.

Good evening Stephen,
Mostly looking as an Italian town on the Ligurian coast, and even the vegetation on the hill above has resmble to.
Fine old pic. scanned, the place is awesome as a tourists destination.
Italian look, Spanish name for the island, brithish named town, and many tourists from all over - real cosmopolitanm location.
Fine contribution to TE.

I have not often see the photos from this small country. And this Central American country reminds me the breaking news of 1983, when the American troops landed here.
Very attractive composition, good quality for a scanned photo!
