Tazumal, a Maya-Tempel in Chalchuapa. Chalchuapa is located 76km northwest of San Salvador.
The Maya ruins of Tazumal are the most important and best preserved in El Salvador. In the Quiché language the name Tazumal means 'pyramid where the victims were burned.' Archaeologists estimate that the first settlements in the area were around 5000 BC. The excavated structures date from a period spanning over 1000 years. The artifacts found at Tazumal provide evidence of ancient and active trade between Tazumal and places as far away as Panama and Mexico.

The branches and the trees are framing well the temple. The point of view is showing with precision the details and colors of the architecture of the temple. The colors are enhanced by the quality of the light. Have a nice day.

The places are so well preserved that we could almost see appearing the Mayas… Beautiful and luminous photograph on this temple with the original architecture which seems less imposing than those usually seen. The branches creates a pleasant framing of the image. Interesting photograph, thank you Achim.
With all my friendships and a very good evening,

A nicely datailed and framed monument, with optimal light and colors.
I can imagine scenes happening there such as the ones in the "Apocalypto" movie!

Hi Mr President
Intersting view of the ruins.
Nice lights ambiance.
Easy please with the sharp filter; it's visible on the trees :)

sehr interessant (besonders, nachdem man die Beschreibund gelesen hat) - und wieder eine Mahnung für mich, wie beschränkt meine Kenntnisse über die nicht-europäischen Kulturen sind.

That rarest of sights - a good Mayan ruin photograph from El Salvador. A nice shot, well framed with the tree above, and good depth of field.
This was one of my favourite countries - ruins nowhere near as impressive as México, volcanoes not quite as impressive as Guatemala, but small, easy to travel in, not too many other tourists and wonderful, friendly, beautiful people.
regadrs and thanks, Iain
