The survivor..., a photo from La Libertad, West

Photographer's Note

In the last summer I was in a NOG in the "El Salvador" but some of you should know this.

But the thing you don't know is in the "Distrito" where I was ("Districto"=state) a horrible earthquake 3 years ago destroyed several little towns.

This picture is the main door of one, in fact the only, house that wasn't destroyed. Unfortunatelly, it is in ruins.

Un bon cliché de ces vestiges du passé. C'est dommage que ced vieil immeuble ne soit pas entretenu et qui disparatra sans doute bientôt.

I like the pic even if it tells us about something really bad, an earthquake. Sometimes a bad event can turn something ordinary into something to be looked and even photographed, like here...strange thing, isn't it?

This brings back memories of a small corner of Kathmandu in Nepal, that was damaged by a big earthquake in the 1930's, & was left exactly as it was, back then. Good sharpness, colour & framing on the partially ruined facade. Tfs!

Once a fine building now in heavy decay..!
A sad story but a picturesque motif for the photographer, that conveys the mood well with this fine capture...
Excellent texture in the wall and woodwork, well framed view where the touch of green offers colour contrast and a feeling of life..!

Inmediatamente ví esta foto, se me vino a la mente la cantidad de estructuras colapsadas a raíz de los movimientos teluricos en Haití y recientemente en Chile.

Me gusta mucho el encuadre, las tonalidades, y cada detalle que reflejan esta fachada abandonada.

NOTA: De nuevo posteando por aquí, pero ahora con un nuevo usuario. Espero contar con el tiempo necesario para opinar y compartir ideas e inquietudes.

una imatge una mica trista atès el que va passar allà fa tres anys, però molt efectiva per mostrar el resultat del terratrèmol. Només aquesta casa en ruïnes segueix en peu, i tu eres allí per ensenyar-la a tothom en una bona foto.

Tremenda foto de arquitectura, me encantan las cosas, sobre todo las casas, en estado de abandono o decadencia, me encantan las fotos de este tipo, y esta foto es una de las mejores que he visto en este estilo! Encuadre, composicion, manejo de luz, colores, texturas, todo perfecto! Felicidades!

Hi Oscar,

Doors and windows often look more photogenic when they are old or damaged by time. In this case, even Mother Nature have put her signature on this building, still, we can appreciate the beautiful details despite the destruction provoked by the earthquake.

A good visual testament, particularly beacause this house will no longer exist soon.

Bonito grafismo y con una unidad de colores tristes que corresponden bien a la historia de este barrio. No se restaurará seguramente nunca la única superviviente de este terremoto .
