| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
The Dominican Republic is voting for a President on May 16. Dominicans take their elections seriously and most are members of one of the political parties. There are 3 major parties and many small parties that align themselves with one of the major parties when the President is voted on.
Each party has a color, one of the reasons being so that the campesinos who can't read or write know which candidate to vote for. Each party's symbol and color are printed next to the appropriate candidate on the ballot.
As part of the pre-electon campaigning, there are demonstrations involving many people, processions of many cars with honking horns and a load of passengers waving their party's banner, and there are lone vehicles with boom boxes making the rounds as well. This photo is of one of those vehicles.
The guys riding on the vehicle, especially those next to the boom boxes in back, must be deaf or nearly so. The volume is turned up so high that nobody could spend time near one of the boom boxes without suffering permanent damage to the hearing. If they weren't deaf from loud music before, they are now. |

Hi Ken,
very nice shot, but i think the white brightness is a bit over, a little photoshop touches will help or putting it in a dark frame. very good note.
