Photographer’s Note
Meet Jack, my new best friend...
I met Jack one afternoon when I went Kayaking in the Dominican national park Parque Nacional del Este
When I decided to stop for a break to eat my lunch, I heard Jack and one of his friends playing close by. I went to see what the commotion was all about. Well, they where both stuck there. They had broken free from I have no idea where, and now the ropes around their necks where all tangled up together and around a tree. I then asked Jack if he needed a hand and he answered that he would certainly appriciate it. After a couple of minutes I got them both free. Jack's buddy wanted to stay where I had found them, I think that he wasn't crazy about strangers, but Jack decided to walk with me back to the kayak. So off we went. When we got there we shared my lunch. Jack must have been real hungry, because he ate fast and wanted to get more.
Before I headed back to the sea, I asked Jack if he would be nice enough to pose for a picture, so that I could present him to my friends on Trek Earth. He was happy to do it, and I must say that I think the he is very photogenic. We then parted ways and Jack went back to his buddy.
I often think about him now, and I wish that we will get a chance to meet again.

Beautiful picture and nice story ! I like the perfect inline perspective of the donkey, and the little part of tree on the top-right.

Very nice shot, Paul. Well framed, great sharpness, nice colors. Like the deep blue sea in the background, and the close-up of Jack. Your story should make you eligible to win the Pulitzer Prize. Excellent work!

Nice story Paul. Never thought that maybe someone had tied the donkeys to this tree and you were the one who untied them loose? Maybe there is a dominican man looking for his donkeys (lol).
Nicely framed, sharp pic. Well done.

Jack tourne le dos à une belle plage. Le ciel et la mer sont magnifiques, mais Jack s'en fout, pauvre Jack!
Bien vu, joyeuses fêtes à vous, même si vous loin de Jack, tentez d'en profiter...

I like the frontal shot and the landscape. I think I would have liked to see more of the sky. Otherwise the crop and composition work really well, I think.
Enjoyed the pic a lot,
