Photographer’s Note

In the center of the historical quarters of the capital Santo Domingo and in the middle of Parque Colon, the statue of Christophe Colomb (E Gilbert 1887 bronzes)… in homage to the famous navigator who had "discovered" of this island.
In background the side wall of the Cathedral Santa Maria Menor (1514) built on order of the King of Spain. In Ws a sight of the interior of this cathedral. A place very animated in the middle of the colonial city with these many people, its players of dominos, its tourists, its shoeshiners of shoes and its children who play with the pigeons…

Good repetition of the fg pigeons, which animate the scene. Superb colour, sharpness & lighting. Excellent graphism, of the central statue, atop the pedestal. Bon weekend!

Hello Jean,

Lors d'un séjour à Barcelone, j'ai remarqué la même statue faisant face à la mer.
J'avais déjà trouvé très drôle les oiseaux posés sur le bras de Christophe.
Une image qui témoingne du lien qu'il peut y avoir entre l'Europe et l'Amérique.

Qule nombre de pigeons, on se croirait à Venise, superbe image de cette place avec de la vivicité, de belles couleurs, ce juene au milieu des pigeons, merveilleux.

Bonjour Jean,

La présence des pigeons et des personnes a un effet d'échelle de grandeur. Les arbres cadrent bien la place. La prise de vue permet de voir les détails et les couleurs de la statue de Christophe Colomb et des maisons. L'image est claire et nette. Les couleurs sont rehaussées par la qualité de la lumière. You were in Santo Domingo just 15 days ago, wow...sorry that I didn't know you were coming to visit Dominican Republic, Next time I would liked to meet you and show you the city, the next time that you come let me know in advance.
Very good shot of the most known plaza in the city, your WS of the interior of the Cathedral is also a very good photo. very good POV, light, sharpness and frame.

La photo est autant utile que bien réalisée. Elle décrit et rappelle en même temps ce grand découvreur. Elle décrit aussi une tranche de vie quotidienne, animée et agréable. Bon cadrage qui suit le pavage et bonne netteté. Le ws est aussi intéressant. Bravo.

Une animation urbaine mais paisible bien rendue par ta photo. Une composition riche en détails avec un bel effet de profondeur. On ne pouvait évieddemnt pas manquer la statue de Colomb ! Très térange cette cathédrale inachevée. Beau et intéressant travail pour TE.

Bonsoir Jean,

C'est la place Saint-Marc version miniature, avec tous ces pigeons !!! Le petit bonhomme du premier plan semble être aux anges... Ensemble architectural joliment mis en valeur, le contraste avec ce bel arbre verdoyant est appréciable. J'aime beaucoup ta photo bonus où j'apprécie la bonne gestion de la lumière intérieure et la netteté de l'image. Merci Jean.

Bonjour Jean!
Jolie photo d'un quartier historique de Saint Domingue!
C'est vrai que Christophe Colomb se trouve partout dans ces territoires qu'il a découverts et colonisés et dont il a en grande partie décimé la population autochtone!
Je suppose que les statues du navigateur datent du temps des Espagnols, car plus d'un maintenant ne le considèrent plus comme un héros dans ces contrées!
Enfin, la photo représente un morceau d'histoire important avec la présencve de l'antique cathédrale; un endroit animé par les touristes, les pigeons maîtres des lieux apparemment , et les habitants qui se délassent sur une de leurs places principales!
