KITE SURFING, a photo from Puerto Plata, West

Photographer's Note

The Dominican Republic is a very popular wind and kite surf destination.
It's not very well know for it's surfing, because most attention is on the neighboring island of Puerto Rico.

The same swells that create big waves there also hit the Dominican Republic in wintertime (as well as other times during the year) creating waves of up to 15'

In fact Cabarete is considered one of the worlds best place to do these activities, plenty of schools and rental shops around, best from April to September.

good POV, and clarity of colors. although I would prefer no other in the frame except of the kiter guy

You managed this very well with the surfer and his kite almost filling the frame. I took one or two at a location near where I live but they must have had longer ropes as to get both the surfer and the kite in the frame they were too far away. You have captured the spray perfectly frozen in time
I'm just wondering why you posted it as a re-post as the "original" is a completely different photo.

Hi Rui,

A perfect kite surfing shot. I love the action and the spray from the surfing board. Very well composed with the kite in one corner and the surfer in the opposite corner. A superb job!

Rui, excelente local de tomada. Ate parece que vc esteve em uma prancha seguindo a pessoa em suas habilidades esportivas. Tendo o surfista a direita com a vela no canto esquerdo superior e o kajak no canto esquerdo inferior da uma boa balanceada na imagem.

Hola Rui,
I've never seen such a close-up kite surfing shot that has both the surfer and the kite in such good detail; together with the spray and the idyllic ocesan scene it is wonderful... to my favs. Hope you are weathering the storms well

Nice photo of this sport. It has great action and nice colors. The use of 1/800 sec was right freezing the water squizee.

Hello Rui,

I have also some photographs on this sport of beach which I took in Brittany this summer. Very beautiful composition here, I like much the balance of the image with the canoe in background and the good timing of the catch of sight. The light and the colors are superb. Beautiful and refreshing photograph, Rui cheer.
