Haitian girls in Polo's mountains, a photo from Barahona, West

Photographer's Note

During the festivities of New Year in Polo we took a ride in the mountains to visit the people who live in the environs, it was a cloudy afternoon and we met several Haitians that works in the coffee fields, this two girls came out of her homes while their spouses played domino and they were eager to have their photo taken. They live in one of the poorest areas of our country but despite of that they told us that they live better and quieter in our country than in Haiti.

Hola, Emile, Bello retrato de las visitantes a nuestras tierras. Dos cosas me han llamado la atencion en esta foto, uno es el borde rojo, encuentro que compite por la atencion y resulta distrayente; la segunda es el formato cuadrado... realmente me gusta... es diferente y place al ojo.

Salut Emile,
Jolie photo et deux jolies haïtiennes, j'aime beaucoup. La qualité d'image nous les montre bien avec leur beau sourire. Tout un travail de faire ces belles tresses, ces femmes sont habiles. Le bel éclairage, sous un ciel nuageux, donne de magnifiques couleurs. Beau double portrait.

buen retrato aquí. Has captado la mirada y la simpatía de estas dos señoritas, en un plano corto bien ajustado.
El brillo de su piel morena contrasta con la blancura de sus ojos, las largas y delgadas trenzas que caen por sus hombros son impresionantes, y deben llevar un buen trabajo para conseguirlas.
Tu nota es interesante, porque podemos saber que los haitianos que viven en vuestro país, a pesar de estar en una zona pobre, están más tranquilos y con un poco más de calidad de vida.
Bello trabajo, mi amigo, cada foto tuya me ayuda a conocer mejor tu bonito país.

Hola Emile, lovely double portrait of these beautiful girls with wonderful long hair. Their pose is cute and I specially like the one on the right. It surprises me the lack of sharpness on the other girl and also her shirt is shining too whitish. I almost consider to make an alternative crop to sho only the girl on the right, but it could result on a strange image. Anyway, still a nice one too look at.

Very good double portrait with the girls posing attractively together, the one on the right with her head on the other's shoulder. You caught the all-important catchlights in their eyes, but I think maybe you needed just a smaller aperture for a wider DOF, as the one on the left is just slighly out of focus. It's not easy to get that right as I know you wanted the background out of focus to be unobtrusive.

Hola Emile,

I think almost every place on earth (beside some African countries) would be better than Haiti. I hope they can grow up in peace and can start some education. Their faces are full with joy, hope it will stay that way.
Good framing here, also the tight crop is what i like to see here....

A funny double portrait, in which they actually seem to be posing for another photographer, as they aren't looking at you! Bright vivid colors and reasonable sharpness. Framing is good.
Living better than in Haiti is quite easy, as you know, there, some people have to eat mud....

Un doble retrato muy al natural que inspira frescura y espontaneidad. Adecuada exposicion y manejo de la luz, ya que las caracteristicas del rostro de las chicas se pueden apreciar muy bien; el fondo borroso es muy apropiado, y el marco que escogio sirve para darle color y contraste a la imagen. Gracias!

En los ultimos días he ablandado mi ritmo de participación en TE, por eso aun no he comentado tus últimos postes.
Esta es un ejemplo más de tu maestría como retratista. Las chicas son muy fotogenicas y tienen un aire muy simpático. Aunque que probablemente estuvieran posando, la foto tiene un ar muy cándido, quizás por miraren a nuestra derecha.
Solo es pena que la face de la chica a izquierda no esté mas nitida, pero es solo un detalle sin importancia.
