Photographer’s Note
This picture was taken during a cloudy evening just 5 days ago while the Tropical Storm Gustav was affecting Dominican Republic, today Gustav is near Western Cuba as strong hurricane. Fortunately for us we only had heavy rain and some flooding.
This view was taken in my neighborhood, just few blocks from my home.
THIS IS GOING TO BE MY LAST PHOTO POSTED IN TE FOR A WHILE, NEXT WEEK I'M GOING TO EUROPE (SPAIN, ITALY AND FRANCE) FOR A MONTH ON VACATION. SO DON'T GO AWAY I'M COMING BACK AT THE BEGINNING OF OCTOBER.

Hello Emile,
I see on the news you have some nasty weather in your part of the world, and this image document the situation very well!
Except for the water this looks like a fine place, and the colours are well reproduced, in particular I like the lush green...
Have a safe trip to Europe!

Hola Emile,
Very impressive and always worrying image, with nice reflections though. You've taken it in so good sharpness that we can imagine what happened there.
It reminds me when we had a flood here - I posted some pictures.
Have a nice trip and, please, take a lot of pictures!

Hola Dr.Emile,
I can see here that the flood had done quite a damage to your area with the flood especially on the beautiful residential buildings like this! it's quite impressive to see the flood water can be that calm with the beautiful reflections over it!
Take good care and enjoy your wonderful holidays in Europe and see you when you are back!

Hola Emile.

Hi Emile!!
I heard about Gustav passing near Dominican Republic, and I thought about the only one I know there! So there was a flood not far from your home, and you made a fine picture of it. May we say that you made a good composition, using reflections well? A quiet place and so much water.
Enjoy your tour in Europe! September is the right month to go around here, I wish to start too.
Ciao!!!

Hi Emile,
We heard here on the news that Gustav is a bad one again, so I’m glad to hear that you only had some heavy rain and some flooding. The result here is a remarkable picture.
Have a good trip to Europe and I hope to see you safely back in October with a new load of beautiful pictures.

Hola Emile,

Josep y Pili

Hello Emile,
A most dramatic shot of the aftereffects of Gustave. You've produced an effective shot with the endless pools of water; and as you described it, it was heavy rain. A little while ago, while reviewing a photo that Didi Massoud sent of Orleans (France) of a glistening cobblestones in a medieval part of the town, I thought of what the inhabitants of New Orleans are expecting! Just three years after being hammered by a hurricane, they are now in the path of another. New Orleans is not as appealing as 'old' Orleans right now.
I hope you have a fabulous trip on the Crystal Serenity. Our 24-days were fabulous, but it is nice now to get back to routine work.
Warm regards,
Bulent

Hola Emile,

Hi Emile,
Gustave is getting nastier by the hour... you see what happens in New Orleans right now,....
Difficult to consider the photographic qualities in the face of such events, but it helped you to get nice reflections there, along with a good reportage value.
Hope all will be fine...
Greetings

Hi Emile,
This is a good and interesting news photo of the results of Gustav when it still was a tropical storm. The floodings must be terrible, although for this photo they create wonderful and nicely distorted reflections. The colours are also pleasant.
Have a great holiday in Europe!

Hi Emile,
Amazing reflection, fantastic clarity, details and colours, it's made of well known elements but it's almost abstract, especially the middle-bottom part, very nice!

Emile,
looking at this I'm quite shocked with the devastation provoked by tropical storm Gustav. I can't iamgine what hurricaine Gustav might have done to Cuba. Yet, I also look at your shot form the artistical point of view and that is really extremely good. I just wonder with all that water how you are getting to Europe. Whith a boat? Hopefully the water is already all gone so that you can take the car to the airport ...
Have a good and safe trip, my friend!

Hi Emile
This is an impressive vision. But it give a good opportunity for the photographer with the reflection of the light in the water.
Good report and beautifull picture

IT's not so good saying this - but it looks almost idyllic this flood setting with the perfect reflection of this watered street environement. Interesting daily life shot emile. Hope you enjoyed your trip to the old continent..
