Photographer’s Note
For the first time in history, one of the world’s leading museums, the Louvre, is holding an open-air exhibition in Santo Domingo. Life-size, high definition photographic reproductions of the Parisian museum’s masterpieces are on show.
The exhibition is taking place in Santo Domingo’s Parque Independencia during the months of September and October and will feature 122 paintings.
The French Embassy in the Dominican Republic, the Louvre Museum, the Cariforum Cultural Center and the Dominican Ministry of Culture are hosting the exhibition, which has also received sponsorship from private companies Brugal, Mercasid, Carrefour and Orange. This is the world premiere of this traveling exhibition, which will then go on to tour several other world cities.
The exhibition features a sampler of the best of eighteenth and nineteenth century European painting, with masterpieces from the Flemish, Dutch, Italian and French schools. From Dominican Today.
My picture was taken about noon time from my window's car.
In my WS you will able to see the Mona Lisa
Hope you like it.

Hi Emile!
what a strange scene! At a first glance I thought it was an exibition of some street artist! Then I noticed what these pictures are are read your note.
Strange also to see such paintings in a tropical environment, with palms and so on.
Thank you for sharing it!

Hej Emile,
What a nice and interesting idea, such an open-air exhibition with works from a famous museum. You captured it very well and from a good POV. The inclusion of the people is very good too, three of them seem also to be very interested in the masterpieces from the Louvre. Well done!

Lars

Very good idea to bring these famous works of art to the attention of people who may not get the opportunity to see the originals. Nicely composed image placing the exhibits on a diagonal and including some people enjoying the work. Well done

Salut Emile!

Josep

Emile,
I remember that palce in Santo Domingo. It was my wifes and mine favorite place to hang out in the late afternoon to sit at outside of a restaurant, sipping on some freshly blended juice, and watching people pass by.
The title is a funny one although there is a grain of thruth in it. The composition with the people clustered at the right side and leaving free visual of the paintings is a good one.

Hi Emile,
The warm light nicely contributes to the relazxd atmosphere in the scene. I like your POV, with the fence of paintings nicely angling through the frame and the people nicely placed. I am surprised that the security concerns would allow for such valuable paintings to be displayed outdoors in such a setting. Well captured.

Hi Emile. Yes if you try to take a picture of the Mona Lisa in the Louvre bad things will happen, so I hear. You have a nice mix of people and I like how they are interacting with the picture. tfs Emile.

Hi Emile,
The inclusion of spectators is indeed important especially for an exhibition as otherwise it would forfeit its main objective. I like the composition as it gave allowance for us to enjoy a section of the exhibits uninterrupted. The good clarity and the green foliage at the top is very soothing and pleasant. Well done!!
Regards and all the best.

Hola Emile,

Hi Emile,
I missed this one! ;D
Nice to see a street expo, even if only photo reproductions, which must be of excellent quality( everybody understands the originals can't be exposed to tropical weather and some potential thefts!) Excellent light, colors and sharpness here with people showing interest in the paintings!

Hola Emile,
It's fun to see the Louvre works under the dominican sun, I think my favorite goes to the WS because 1. we can associate Mona Lisa with the Louvre at once and 2. the lady looking definitely exotic provides the contrast to make the image interesting. But I'd clone away the guy for better focusing.
Have a nice day,
