Photographer’s Note

Part of the tour given us was to watch folk dancers dance the native dances of the island. The dances were transferred from generation to generation. These young men and women's great great grandfathers were brough into the island sold as slaves from Africa by French traders. During those days the slaves are allowed only to wear plain white dress. The folk dances were performed in one of the cultural houses. I took her picture because she is one of the prettiest and one of the most graceful dancer in the group. I did this after the show. We were allowed to communicate with the dancers and musician.
