Photographer’s Note
Flamingos photographed at la Salinas in Zapata. This took me several days to arrange although I did use all of the resources mentioned in Moon guide and Rough guide. The problems are transportations and available guides in the morning. Officially one needs to use a rented car or a taxi. I tried to book a taxi for the next day but it was impossible. Nor did I find a rental car. The Casa Particular owner was the driver in the end. The guide didn’t arrive at Playa Larga until 07:45 after that we had 30 minutes driving to come out at the Salinas in Zapata. Unfortunately this is too late for good photos! However I think it's impossible to find a guide who agrees to start working at six a clock in the morning in Cuba! Photo was taken with extender X2 and 300 mm lens which is in fact 600 mm.

Hi Jan,
what beautiful birds they are...
good panning, nice blur in the background.
And, yes, you´re right...nobody working at 6:00, impossible. First taxi is at 7:30. I walked...if possible.
Compliments, Chris
