She looks little bit depressed, maybe that downhearted, stick out cigar gives little bit melancoly feeling?
Looks like that position is overforced? Maybe not, but anyway, with this cigar position, she dont like her cigar.

What about your older picture, there is life with good humor, but in this picture, i think life is been lost.
Anyway, good colors and depth of field :-)

wonderful portrait of the old woman smoking a big cigar, beautiful light on the back and well use of DOF. but the cigar seems to big for her, it must be easy to find smaller in Cuba.

Weer een sprekende foto van jou. Je hebt een mooie verzameling van Cuba. Steeds expressief en inventief van compositie, mooi van belichting en kleuren! Ik kijk uit naar jouw volgende! Wij gaan in april 2007 ook terug naar Cuba, dat land dat aan je ziel blijft kleven...Ik kan bijna niet meer wachten.
