REPOSTED: From all of the good suggestions I got, here is my second try. In the hopes of making the background less distracting, I cut out the background and made its
and reduced its sharpness.
I also cropped it a little differently to get rid of the foot on the right hand side and to include more of the hand.
And finally, I added a frame to match the black spots on the shell.
This little hermit crab was hiding from me. We found it on the forest floor, which I thought was a little wierd for a hermit crab. This area has many other species of land crabs though.
Cropped from bigger picture. I kept the hand in there to give some perspective.

As I said to you when you first posted it, this is a great catch Mike. I felt like experimenting a little so have a look at my workshop if you like. :)

It's a very good macro / close-up of this little fellow playing hide-and-seek ;-) Colours and details are gorgeous, and I'm amazed you got it all within DOF range with just F-2.8.

Dazzling colours & detail, an overall just a really good photo. But what I like the best is the human detail -- the thumb -- somehow it just seems to personalise the photo & give it that extra oomph.

I like the composition and colors.
