The Cathedral of St Cristóbal of Habana
The Cathedral of St Cristóbal of Habana is located in the beautiful square “Plaza de la Catedral”, and it is the greatest example of the so-called “Cuban baroque style,” that was developed in Cuba at the beginning of the 18th century.
Its construction started in 1748 and finished in 1777, and it was given the rank of Cathedral in 1787. For over 100 years-from 1796 to 1898-the body of Christopher Columbus lay in a mausoleum here.
This square became one of the main places of the city during the XVIII century, wealthy families of Havana’s high society started then to build mansions that can still be seen in the area.
This is a very quiet place, but sometimes full of tourists. It is a pleasure to sit in the terrace to take a refreshment, in the evening, or at night, when the Cathedral shows its beauty thanks a to a smooth illumination.
I like this Cathedral a lot, it has something special, magical… and I have post it, after having seen that there isn’t any photo of this Cathedral showing both towers together, here in TE. So, here is it. With its impressive beauty.
One of the places that will remain for ever in my mind.

Hola Jaume.
Aquí sí que pienso que hay la definición está por encima de lo que la foto necesita.
De todas formas la composición y el punto de vista son buenos... y qué decir de la luz.
Me gusta mucho.

Gracias Jaume.

Hi Jaume. What a large and beautiful cathedral. I am one who likes the distortion or lean-in of buildings. I like how you fit all of the people in the foreground which really adds to the overall shot. Nice one Jaume!

Hola Jaume.

Hi Jaume -wonderful colonial architecture, great detail despite the harsh light on white, I just wish the top of the right cross was not touching the frame. Have a nice weekend,

Hola Jaume,
Very nice perspective showing the majestic ornate facade of the cathedral. This upward perspective against the sky brings out the upper part of the cathedral and creates a nice contrst with the lower part which is surrounded by the adjacent buildings. Well done Jaume and have a nice weekend!
Regards, Christian

Hay Jaume!
You have capture the Cathedral beautifully. I liked the old architecture. Nice composition. It seems that you have taken this photo in a bright day. Well done. I am not sure if it is a bit over sharpened.

Comparing it with the baroque Churches in the Philippines, this one is certainly different and a well preserved church. I like your photo with the church sorroundings giving the real atmosphere of the area.
Merry Christmas Jaume!
