Photographer’s Note
Streets of La Habana Vieja
Last Monday (25/10/05), Cuba was whipped by the hurricane Wilma, with intense winds and rains, after having destroyed a great zone of the Yucatan peninsula.
In only two hours the level of the sea raised to one meter and a half and began the floods by El Malecon (the beautiful great promenade in front of the sea) and many streets of La Habana were under the water.
The Habana coast seemed a species of city with channels, as some of the streets were totally flood and turned channels, fortunately without any victim.
The district of La Habana Vieja, was one of the main one affected. These streets belongs to there, they are always full of Cuban people talking and playing in the street, this is a very typical scene there.
I hope that all these people did not have many problems, and that they can recover of the destructions as soon as possible. This is dedicated to all them.

Hi Jaume
This is a lovely candid shot of daily life. Beautifully sharp, and great DOF. The eye is really drawn through the shot into the background where the archway is, and beyond. Well captured.
Regards

Hola Jaume, what a lively activity with children playing in the street, some adults keeping an eye on them, again a very nice glimpse in the daily life with lots of details. All these happy faces creates a strong contrast to your sad note, one can only hope that they weren't hit so hard by this misfortune. Nice light control with great rendition in shadow (I can imagine that this kind of shots including brigth light and shadow are difficult to take) and beautiful colours. Well captured! Have a nice weekend Jaume!

Hi Jaume - wonderful lively and authentic street scene, once again has a many years old feel with no traffic and full of charm, amazing detail in the shadows and the sunlit parts are not burning bright.

Hola Jaume.

Has hecho una buen captura mani

Hi Jaume. Yes how sad is that. They really got hit hard down there. I like how the kids are arranged here. This is a very poignant shot Jaume, thanks for sharing.

Hola Jaume.
