La Fortaleza del Morro des del Malecón

In the beautiful promenade of La Habana, world-wide known as “El Malecón”, you can see different scenes of the Cuban people daily life, some men fishing, some boys having a fresh bath in the sea, someone looking to the horizone, thinking in their own things…
It is really a pleasure to share with them how they enjoy the evening time, waiting for the sunset, one of the best moment to go to take a walk by the Malecón.

At the background, you can appreciate a part of the construction named “El Castillo de los Tres Reyes del Morro”, constructed between 1589 and 1630. After several modifications, in 1844 an old tower was replaced by the lighthouse you can see here.

This is lovely Jaume, a spontaneous moment nicely captured. The young man jumping into the water catches the eye of course, but I like the collection of men, each focused in his own world, whether alone or with friends. Looking closely I see other men farther along the shore as well. This feels very alive. You achieve fine clarity and colors. I appreciate how you handle the geometry with a level horizon, as well as care with the composition so we see the flag flying at the upper right hand corner. Fine work all the way around. We don't get a great number of photos from Cuba, so this collection you share with all of us is much appreciated.

Jolie scène de vie que ces enfants qui jouent au bord de l'eau !!
Dommage que le ciel soit un peu cramé
Sinon une bonne ambiance règne dans cette photo

La verdad es que la foto está muy bien y has captado genial el momento del salto jugando con la fortaleza a un lado y el mar al otro.

También está muy bien la definición que consigues de las roca y la gente.

Hola Jaume.
Podría haber sido una foto sin más del Malecón: con la línea de la costa perfilándose hasta el faro de castillo de los Tres Reyes y con una bonita luz bañando el agua y toda la foto.
Pero lo que la hace diferente, y es por eso por lo que más me gusta, es por la escena que recoge la foto: toda la gente sobre el borde de la costa. Unos pescando, otros tirándose al agua, otros hablando,... Y todos bañados en la luz de la que hablaba antes y rodeados de un gran entorno.
Vamos, que me gusta.

Hi Jaume. Such a great shot title to go with the excellent shot. I like the sun angle here as it brings its own drama. Again the architecture in the background is old but beautiful. Good timing with the jumper too. Well done Jaume!

Evidentemente el tipo volando le da gracia a la foto. Sin embargo lo que más me gusta es la sensación de tiempo detenido. Estoy leyendo un libro de Ryszard Zapuscinski llamado "Ebano", en él cuenta que para los blancos el tiempo es algo objetivo e incontrolable, un yugo que nos condiciona. Para los africanos es algo relativo, un flujo cósmico que frena y acelera según muchos condicionantes, por eso para ellos esperar es algo natural y para nosotros un suplicio. Bien, esta parrafada viene a cuento de que en Cuba es como si se fusionaran estos dos conceptos y, además, lo veo pensado viendo esta foto: Yo podría pasar horas en ese acantilado bañándome y muchos problemas e historias serían nimias para mí, pero al mismo tiempo pensaría en que es sólo un instante en medio del continuo abrumador e implacable del tiempo. ¡Ea!

Hi Jaume, very nice picture with a beautiful composition captured at the right moment with the man jumping, giving an apperance of almost floating in the air. The dof is very nice from the rocks in the foreground all the way to the castle and the lighthouse. The colours are very nice and although the sky is a bit washed out it creates a nice contrast with the dark water of the sea. Well captured!

Vuela esta volandooo....Interesante toma de este luagar maniiii, aunque con algo de ruido, tampoco es un lugar de cristalinas aguas pero seguro que es un fantastico sitio donde perderse.

Excelente fotografía! La composición es bastante dinámica con el chaval saltando y sus amigos esperando su turno. El viejo fortin colonial se ve precioso con esa luz tenue y los colores del mar son encantadores.
Me ha gustado mucho.

Beautiful composition and capture at the right moment. It looks to me that the person is standing on the water. Beautiful colour of the stones. Somehow, sky appeared too brighter.
