Bay of Baracoa

Baracoa is a small town located at the northwest part of the province of Guantánamo, in the Eastern end side of Cuba. Its history begins with the arrival of the three caravels of Columbus: His flagship Santa María, the Pinta and the Niña, in the 27 of November of 1.492.
The Baracoa Bay, was one of the first pieces of earth that Christopher Columbus saw in 1.492, when he disembarked in the present island of Cuba.
At the background, you can see one of the symbols of Baracoa, the mountain known as “El Yunque", with the flattened top. After 2 hours of walking, you can reach its 581m of height.
These small fishermen boats over the pleased and quiet waters of this pretty bay, are calmly waiting to leave to the sea, like the three caravels did five centuries ago.

Baracoa es un pequeño pueblo situado en la parte noroeste de la provincia de Guantánamo, en la punta mas oriental de Cuba.
La historia de Baracoa comienza con la llegada de las tres naves de Colón: la Santa María, la Pinta y la Niña, el 27 de noviembre de 1.492.
La Bahía de Baracoa fue uno de los primeros trozos de tierra que vio Cristóbal Colón en 1.492 cuando desembarcó en la actual isla de Cuba.
Al fondo, podéis observar uno de los símbolos de este pueblo, la montaña conocida como “El Yunque”, una pequeña meseta de 581 metros de altura, con la cima aplanada.
Las pequeñas barcas de pescadores, están esperando tranquilamente sobre las placidas y quietas aguas de esta bonita bahía, para volver a salir a la mar, como hicieron las tres carabelas hace ya cinco siglos.

Un molt maco punt de vista i composició aquesta en forma de mitja lluna del llag està molt ben aconseguida.

Hola Jaume.
Una de las mejores cosas que creo que puedo decir es que viendo la foto, me gustaría estar ahí. La verdad es que se recoge muy bien la sensación de tranquilidad, de haberse parado el tiempo.
Con ese cielo tan grande todo parece más pequeño, pero a la vez... pero a la vez parece un lugar que no acaba. No sé... eso da una sensación de libertad muy grande. Bueno... en Cuba hablar de libertad no es muy correcto, pero no me refería a ese tipo de libertad. Más bien a la libertad de no estar atado a un mundo urbano e informatizado por todas partes.
Es decir, un poco del palo Jack London (creo que se escribía así).

Manito cubano...bella estampa y seguro un bonito lugar.La perspectiva me gusta seguramente la hubiera tomado igual que tu, pero le falta algo que no se...parece que tenga ruido o este algo blanca o nu se algo tiene...pero esta bien mani

Hi Jaume - what a beautiful corner of paradise, I really like the banana trees in the front, but be careful whree you go around Guantanamo, your paradise can quickly turn into hell :-)

Lo curioso de tus fotos es que me están trayendo muchísimos recuerdos de mi propio periplo por aquellos lugares. Hola desde San Sebastián Jaume, con ganas de volver a casa ya, la verdad (y de irme a Mallorca el fin de semana que viene)... A lo que vamos: Buen plano general. agradezco mucho la intensidad de los colores, lo equilibrado de toda la foto. Mirarla produce relajo (que lo necesito) y nada más, esto es todo amiguitos.

PD: Si algún día se presenta la ocasión te mostraré dónde desembarco por primera vez en la actual República Dominicana. Saludos Donostiarras.

Hi Jaume, this place looks like paradise to me, such a beautiful, lush, serene scenery. All those leaves in the background gives one the sense of discovery, like being an explorer and realize that behind those leaves is a new undiscovered and pristine place :)But all those present boats dismiss my statement about being an explorer. The colours are the colours of paradise and thus superb. Well done my friend.

wow, this is a really tremendous landscape, and of course even more so, since it has so much historical background to it. you have done a really good job with exposure. I like the little boats scattered all over the bay area and el Yunque certainly grabs one's attention.
