Photographer’s Note
El Gran Teatro de la Habana
In front of the “Parque Central” square, there is this beautiful present from the Cuban architecture.
Here you can see the facade of the “Centro Gallego”, built by the Belgium architect Paul Beleau, in 1915, it is of Neobaroque style with certain anticipations of the Art Déco. This building was created as the place of social reunion for the Galician immigrants from Spain.
Nowadays it is the place for the “Gran Teatro of La Habana”, with several scenic spaces, the greatest one with more than 2.000 seats.
In front of it, you can see the different types of taxis, all well aligned, waiting for its clients. There are the forties and fifties cars, Coco Taxis (the yellow ones, very typical) and the Bici Taxis, the bikes with three seats, one for the driver, and two behind it for the people.
At the top left corner, you can see a piece of the Capitolio.

Hello Jaume,
Very good picture giving a very representative idea of La Habana. I have to say I made neraly the same shot 3 years ago when I went there.
Thanks for sharing.
Regards. Christian

Hola Jaume.

Descansar (y claro, hacer fotos). Un saludo Jaume.

Hi Jaume - the colonial architecture is very classy, and they combined with vintage autos makes a great mix. Being picky maybe some more at the top to include the top of the dome at left, but I don't want to cut off the bici taxi either.

Hola Jaume, very nice picture with a nice perspective showing the colourful car alignment and the beautiful ornate facade of the theater. There is a nice contrast between the white facade of the building and the row of taxi cars. Nice work!

A very nice architectural photo. You have terrific details on this building. It is a pleasure to observe it slowly. The cars of the fifties too are fascinating. do you know that the US issued new stamps on the "The cars of the Fifties"?
Also, i want to thank you for your comments on my photo, "Family at Leisure". I appreciate it.

Hi Jaume. You sure have a varied and interesting foreground to match the beautiful Gran Teatro. As an American I think it's fascinating to see shots from Cuba. I see they are stuck back in time. Sad and beautiful at the same time. Nicely done Jaume!
