Flowers for who?, a photo from La Habana, West

Photographer's Note

Walking on the beach of Santa Maria del Mar, I found this bouquet of sunflowers brought ashore by the waves.
Maybe is a bouquet for a bride.
Or maybe it's the flowers that someone had thrown into the sea in memory of a family member who died while performing the illegal crossing to escape communist Cuba and embrace the American dream.
The flowers are back to shore. And now that the dictatorship has opened its doors to the private properties, even the Cubans living in America want to come back ...... just like these sunflowers.

FIORI PER CHI ?
Camminando sulla spiaggia di Santa Maria del mar,ho trovato questo bouquet di girasoli portato a riva dalle onde.Forse è un bouquet di una sposa.
O forse sono i fiori che qualcuno ha lanciato in mare a ricordo di un suo familiare scomparso mentre effettuava la traversata clandestina per sfuggire alla Cuba comunista e abbracciare il sogno americano.
I fiori sono tornati a riva. E adesso che la dittatura ha aperto le porte alla proprieta' privata,anche i cubani che vivono in America vogliono tornare......proprio come questi girasoli.

FLEURS POUR QUI?
En marchant sur la plage de Santa Maria del Mar, j'ai trouvé ce bouquet de tournesols ramenés à terre par ondes.Peut etre est un bouquet pour la mariée.
Ou c'est peut-être les fleurs que quelqu'un avait jeté à la mer dans la mémoire d'un membre de la famille qui est décédé lors de l'exécution du franchissement illégal d'échapper à la Cuba communiste et d'embrasser le rêve américain.
Les fleurs sont de retour à terre. Et maintenant que la dictature a ouvert ses portes à la propriete' privee',même les Cubains vivant aux Etats-Unis veulent revenir...... tout comme ces tournesols.

Si possono fare mille ipotesi sulla provenienza del marzo di fiori, ma la foto è bellissima, davvero eccellente la resa cromatica e la luce.

J'aime beaucoup ce ciel gris tourmenté et menaçant, le contraste avec la mer turquoise et le sable doré, ainsi que le POV au ras du sol
Mais en effet que fait donc là ce bouquet de fleurs, qui fait très bien dans le décor, mais dont on se demande bien d'où il provient. Curieux !

Ma che bella, romantica e struggente immagine, Luciano! E no, non si tratta di un bouquet da sposa. Propendo per il dolente omaggio a qualcuno che in mare ha perso la vita. Il mare é onesto: restituisce tutto, o quasi. Prima o poi... Apprezzo moltissimo la tua profonda sensibilità: come fotografo e come persona. Ma lo sai già, no? Non ti ho scritto niente di nuovo. Vero?

La distance entre le bouquet de fleurs et l'horizon donne de la profondeur à la composition. La prise de vue permet de voir les détails et les couleurs de la plage et de l'océan. Le ciel nuageux donne un bon contraste aux couleurs de l'image. Bonne soirée.

View from the beach :) Indeed, one can imagine stories about the flowers. or maybe there was a date here but it went something wrong and she threw the flowers angry away? Or maybe she didn't come? A lovely note to accompany your photograph - it certainly makes you think!
I love the low pov that you have used which has placrd the focal flowers so strongly in the frame; they totally dominate the scene, which they should, whilst the rest of the shot provides the unobtrusive setting.

Same problem in Europe, with immigrants fleeing from Africa to Spain, France & Italy, & in Australia, with Iranians, Afghans etc fleeing wars & poverty. Good low shooting angle & vibrant color of the commemorative sunflowers. Good color & sharpness. Tfs!

A fine composition with possible symbolic interpretations. The slight absurdity of this bouquet lying on the beach enhances the beauty of the picture. The dark sky makes the flowers look even brighter.

Wow! These flowers look in such good condition that I thought that you had placed them there - they certainly don't look like they have been in the sea for hours or days!

This is a beautifully composed shot with the bouquet of flowers placed in exactly the right position in the frame. The pale sea, beach and sky are in strong contrast to the strongly saturated colours of the flowers and their bindings and the little row of trees in the distant right add to the appeal.

Fabulous colours, perfect exposure and exquisite sharpness and depth.

des "soleils" quelle belle trouvaille, alors ces fleurs je les prends car le tournesol est une fleur-plante que j'apprécie le plus
les couleurs de la mer, ce ciel de gris bleuté qui contraste et qui donne un excellent résultat

Le bouquet retient le regard et l'on imagine de suite une histoire ....une histoire plutôt triste comme une rupture La composition est superbe , le ciel est la mer t'ont offert leurs bleues les plus tendres pour faire ressortir sur ce fond , les pétales jaunes et les feuilles contrastantes. Joli cadrage aussi !

in brazil is very usual the african religiob named here candomblé and in cuba it is named santeria, the godess of the sea is iemanjá and she receives gifts from people who throw things to the sea. I am sure these flowers were gave to her, it is told when the sea put the gifts out is because she didn't like of the gift. I guess iemanjá didn't like sun flowers.

This is a picture with a great quality
It starts very nice with a great lower
position and that makes the flowers
bigger and "tougher".
The open space makes the picture nice
calmness and the picture has a great
composition. The light management is also
great and not importent, but is is a
nice extra: the horizon / sea is nice
straight (a lot of people forgot that).

In short: great work.

oggi scelgo questa perchè la tua ultima non mi piace: la trovo troppo confusa.
Preferisco questa essenziale nella sua composizione e ricca di significati.
Oltretutto si giova di bei colori e di un cielo di quelli che tanto piacciono a me.
