Photographer’s Note

Trust Me

I love to photograph different letter boxes in the cities I visit. I especially like the old ornate ones in brass or stone.

This example comes from the Plaza de La Catedral in Habana Vieja.

Some mailboxes, by their solid design, give you a sense of security that your letter will be delivered to its destination in good time.

Some don't. This creature looks more likely to chew and digest the letter than to send it on to its destination.

In this case, the letter box is a fitting metaphor. Postal delays from several weeks to 6 months are not uncommon in Cuba.
